The best parks in Nebraska

With the holiday weekend, summer is officially drawing to a close. Now is a great time to get out and enjoy the outdoors, with some of the fun, affordable parks that Nebraska has to offer. Here are our top three picks for the best parks in Nebraska.

Chadron State Park

This local favorite is nestled among the Nebraska National Forest, with all the beauty that Pine Ridge has to offer. In addition to miles of hiking trails, the park also features facilities with tennis courts, picnic tables, snack bars, guided equestrian rides, a swimming pool, and more.

Indian Cave State Park

Ranging along the Missouri River, this park is over 3,000 acres of rugged, rolling territory with 22 miles of hiking trails through the hardwood forest. In addition, the park has a unique horse camp where you can bring your horse, featuring hitching posts, corrals, and a water tank.

Arbor Lodge State Park

This huge, 52-room mansion is the centerpiece of a sprawling estate which once belonged to J. Sterling Morton, who founded Arbor Day. Take a tour through the mansion, picnic on the grounds, visit the arboretum, and check out the amazing rose garden.
